So Colin Powell's finally "concerned" about Obama's spending plans?
If this is coming as a surprise to him, it shouldn't. In fact nothing Obama does should come as a surprise to anyone.
Why? It's a little tough to predict what someone will do when all he has in the way of "job experience" (read leadership experience in this case) is two years or less. What he "looked like" in the campaign was a near-socialist who was a master speaker. I'll say this for him, though: He's taking action! In fact, he's on a course to make Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" look like peanuts as far as give-aways and entitlements are concerned.
Universal health care?
Amnesty for illegals (who, of course, will vote for the hand that feeds them)?
Cap and Trade (kiss a few thousand jobs goodbye)?
You can stop it, you know. Let your Congressmen and Senators know how you feel! It works: Chet Edwards, Democrat Congressman from TX, voted 'no' on Cap & Trade based on an overwhelming number of phone calls to his offices.

Enough Already!
I don't know about you, but I've had just about enough of "change I can believe in":
Let's start out, though, with who you can get in touch with when you have a strong opinion on what's going on in Congress: Your representatives! (You do realize that's where the problem is, don't you?) But maybe you don't have a clue on how to reach him or her. Maybe you aren't even sure who your representatives are! If that's the case, follow this link: http://www.votesmart.org. Finding your representatives, how to contact them and - for that matter - what their voting records are is as easy as entering your zipcode.
You can let them know you want them to slow down and read the fine print before voting on Cap & Trade (at least you still can in the Senate). You can let them know you want them to enforce existing laws on illegal immigration. You can let them know ..
I remember a terrific quote from a salesman friend: "They can't say Yes if you don't ask." That's pretty applicable here, don't you think? If you don't tear yourself away from American Idol or the Michael Jackson saga long enough to let your elected representatives know what you think, then they'll (logically) conclude you really don't give a damn about what they're doing so they'll do as they please. Which is exactly what's been going on in Washington for way too long. IMO.
So add the link above to the "Favorites" in your browser. And start being passionate about what's going on in your country. The buffoons are ruining it before our very eyes! Stop them!
- Bailouts & massive debt.
- Illegal immigrants and their drain on US resources.
- Cap & Trade and its crippling effect on the US economy (not to mention its "junk science" roots).
- Socialized health care .. and its enormous costs. (Are we all really "entitled" to health insurance? I say no.)
- A president with no leadership experience (Can you imagine a guy being installed as the CEO of, say, Mercedes-Benz with less than two years of experience? Me either!)
- A president who's more interested in apologizing for our faults than he is in recognizing our contributions, our generosity and our bloodshed to the benefit of most of the rest of the world.
- A Republican Party that can't find leadership and, what's worse, articulates their views with the passion of a wet mop. (And you're right: This isn't the Messiah's fault, but I'm tired of it anyway.)
